Bill Austin has been living in the Pioneer Valley since 1969, first as a student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, then as a carpenter and builder, and since 1984 as an architect. From 1984 to 1993 he was a principal with Kitchell and Austin, Architecture and Community Design, located in the center of Amherst. From 1993 to 2000 he worked out of his home and an office in Shelburne Falls. Tom Chalmers has recently relocated to the Pioneer Valley from the Metro Boston area. An AIA Architect registered in Massachusetts, Tom brings to the firm over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of the design and construction of institutional and residential projects. His work ranges from renovations of inner-city public schools to residential additions, renovations, and new construction. He has experience in facilitating the public design, bidding and construction process as well as hands-on construction and construction management.
After receiving his Masters Degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute, Bryan relocated to raise his family in Brattleboro, Vermont. He is an avid outdoorsman, artist, and inventor. He brings 10+ years of experience to the office and particularly enjoys the process of making, often building his creations himself. Bryan is currently taking the architectural licensing examination.
Kevin O’Neil received his Bachelor of Architecture in 2011 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was formerly the Operations Manager at his family-owned business Wilson’s Department Store in Greenfield where he supervised and managed shipping and receiving, remodeling, maintenance and service of equipment. He is passionate about the outdoors and to say he is obsessed with fishing would be an understatement. Kevin came to Austin Design in 2012 and is working on becoming a registered architect.
Rich Holschuh finds that his work with Austin Design allows him to combine his fondness for New England, meeting new people, architecture, and web networking into a rewarding mix. With a background in construction and a life-long love of learning, he is happiest helping to make connections and seeing good ideas come to life. Favorites: his family, the natural world, amateur photography, Abenaki culture, craft beer, and pickles.
Patrick Kitzmiller earned his master of Architecture from the University of Massachusetts in 2014 and is currently working toward licensure. His varied background includes being a prop master at the UMass Theater, a residential designer and trim carpenter, and an avid maker of small, wacky things he likes to call “Art.” His passion for architecture comes from understanding how people respond to space. He likes to focus on the details and he believes that natural materials and good lighting are the key to connecting people to the built environment.
Peter Webster joined ADi in 2013, after graduating from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with his Masters in Architecture. A native New Englander, he enjoys exploring the natural world, vintage camper trailers, cooking, and zymurgy. Our secret weapon in the world of craft brewing facility design, he brings his past experience as a professional brewer and publican (among other pursuits) to his management of our brewery-allied projects, with finesse and aplomb.
Timberly joined ADI in 2015 and is a licensed architect in the state of Massachusetts with 10+ years experience. After receiving her Masters Degree in Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design, Timberly worked for large commercial firms in DC, then relocated to New England to get more exposure to environmentally and socially responsible building design and construction. Most of her work has been on residential and commercial buildings, both new construction and historic structures. She grew up in a small town outside of St. Louis and frequently travels back to the area with her husband to spend time with lifelong friends and family.

Jen has always loved creating inviting living spaces. She earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Architecture and Building Engineering Technology at Vermont Technical College in 1991, then went on to study Architecture and Interior Design at Montana State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1995. She’s been working in the Design and Construction world ever since. In 2008, after a pull to dive deeper into the understanding of how our spaces affect our lives, she earned a Certificate of Graduation in Feng Shui Interior Design from the Sheffield School of Interior Design. The understanding of Feng Shui and how our spaces mirror the state of our lives is a continuing fascination and source of study for her.
